Nothing happens without good reason. In 2001 I had no idea that a breed of cats called ragdoll even existed; in fact, the cat itself was way behind the horse and the dog in my mind’s animal hierarchy.

Seven years later I decided on finding an animal companion for my then four-year-old son. Though hesitant, I chose it to be a cat. I approached the issue ‘methodically’. I knew that if I was to live under one roof with a cat, it had to fulfill certain conditions. Above all, I thought, I must like its looks; blue eyes are obligatory, and an angelic character is crucial. ‘Cats like that don’t exist’, I thought to myself and sighed with relief. Nevertheless, for the sake of a clear conscience, I opened my computer and entered the web. I browsed through a cat encyclopedia, my strict criteria in mind. Then I came across a description of the ragdoll breed and was suddenly left speechless. A beautiful cat was peering at me with deep blue eyes. The text below read, ‘friendly with humans, ‘seeks contact with people and enjoys being carried around in their arms’. I knew that was it.

In January 2008 I went to Łódź to the Koc-pol Cat*PL breeding farm, where I got us a ragdoll kitten by the graceful name of Arabella. That’s how it all began.

The FPL (Polish Feline Federation) registration certificate nr 6038 for Rag-Bella*PL breeding was issued 26th August 2008.

The breeding farm belongs to Dream Cat’s Club.
