ABOUT THE BREED

The ragdoll breed is a relatively new one; it was created through interbreeding cats of various breeds: Burmano-like, Persian and Siamese. It may come as a surprise that the female progenitor of ragdolls was a half-tamed cat, by no means a pure-bred. The story of the breed starts in the United States and reaches back to the 1960s 1. Poland saw its first pair of ragdolls in 2001 2. A ragdoll is a large cat of massive frame. An adult female weighs 4-6 kg, an adult male 7-10 kg. Full maturity is achieved at the age of 3-4 years. The ragdoll’s characteristic feature is that its muscles go completely limp when you hold it up in your hands or arms. These beautiful animals are highly intelligent, well-balanced, and gentle. Even when they go wild when playing, they never lose their temper or mildness. They are moderately active. Calm and patient, they are also inquisitive and are always willing to participate in people’s everyday activities. Trustful by nature, they become very strongly attached to their owner.

1. The person who initiated the breeding of ragdolls was Ann Baker, who lives in Riverside, California, LA. She was followed in her passion for the breed by Laura and Danny Deyton.

2. The male Siambalirags Jantar and the female cat Siambalirags Czeko were brought to the Szam*PL breeding farm by Mrs. Zofia Jankowska.
